Book Launch: Brown Girl

Venue: School Hall

Classes 5 upwards and the wider school community have been invited to attend the book launch of Leilani Taneus-Miller’s debut teen novel Brown Girl as an educational part of the school day on the last Friday before half term. Parents, carers, teachers and the wider Waldorf community are welcome to join this event. (Please RSVP for seating arrangements).

Published at the beginning of January, the book has already been well received, garnering positive reviews in its first week (see Brown Girl: Covid Creative Outlet Gets Published in Tuesday Notice, 10th January) and with a Harper’s Magazine interview due out later this year, alongside a London book launch.

Race, equality and mental health are key themes addressed in the book, which tie in with the School’s Equality & Diversity Mandate Group criteria. Leilani, a Steiner Waldorf Teacher at Edinburgh Steiner School, will share her experience of the writing to publication process and what inspired the book. There will be a Q&A and book signing afterwards.

You can also meet Leilani at the Friday Market on 10th February, where the book will be available to buy.
