Boxes of Support For Homeless Children At Christmas

18th December, 2018

The School community once again gave an incredibly generous response to the Salvation Army’s Christmas Present Appeal.  We were delighted to be able to give the Salvation Army shelter in Leith several bulging boxes of new toys and clothes to be distributed to homeless children who would not otherwise wake up to a gift on the 25th December.

14,075 children have been assessed as homeless in Scotland. This is equivalent to 38 children becoming homeless every day. Mobilizing to meet a need in Edinburgh, The Salvation Army collects presents for children aged baby to 16-years-old, ranging from teddy bears to crayons, to clothes.

“We believe every child deserves a new gift at Christmas, so we are unable to take used or second-hand items for the Christmas Present Appeal” Salvation Army.

Over the years hundreds of children and young people have benefited from gifts donated by our school community.

The school would like to thank the parents who brought this initiative to the school, Maggie O’Farrell & William Sutcliff.
