School Musical: Beauty & The Beast

We are bringing back the large-scale drama production! Casting for the Junior Broadway musical Beauty & the Beast is just around the corner, with auditions being held soon. Reserve your seat for the 6th & 7th December public performances anytime from now.

The School is bringing back the large-scale stage production. This year it will be facilitated by James Cumming and Elidh Smith

Save the dates: Thursday, 5th December will be the opening performance for pupils, during the school day. This will be followed by two public performances on Friday 6th & Saturday 7th December.

Principal roles will mainly be Upper School pupils. Principal rehearsals will take place on Monday afternoons in the former Eurythmy Room at 3:25pm or 4pm (sessions as per role/scenes and pupils’ timetables). Join: Musical Production

The ensemble will be cast from Class 7, as well as pupils in Class 6 upwards who join the extra-curricular ad-hoc club Musical Production. Ensemble rehearsals will be held in the School Hall at 3.25pm – 4.30pm, starting in three weeks (as the ensemble scenes are centred around songs. These will be learnt in the School Choir initially). Attendance will be as per role/scenes; and may include principals (scene dependent).

The production costs of the musical are being partly funded by the PTA, who are helping to meet the cost of script licenses, scores, production costs, lighting, staffing (musical director, dance choreographer and so on), costumes and printing of flyers and programmes. Participants are therefore only required to pay a nominal fee for the term to reflect the ad hoc nature of rehearsals.

A documentary/promo video for the musical will be produced this term by pupils in the weekly extra-curricular club Film & Drama Club aimed at pupils in Class 6 upwards. This will be held in the former  Eurythmy Room on Thursdays at 3:25pm. Join: Film & Drama Club

Musical Dress Rehearsals in the School Hall: Saturday 30th November, 11am – 4pm and Tuesday 3rd December, 5pm – 7pm.
