Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) – PTA

Are you a parent or teacher curious about our school?

Are you a parent or teacher with ideas to share?

Do you value communication and community?

Please join us on Thursday, 6 October at 7 pm in the School Hall to find out how a Parent Teacher Association (PTA), with wide-spread support, could facilitate these, and other, issues. All members of the School community are invited.

As a parent/carer with an enrolled child or young person in the school, you are automatically a member of the Parent and Teacher Association (PTA).

Programme includes talks by:

Michael Palmer – Chair of Edinburgh Steiner School’s Board of Trustees

Helen Newton – Management Team / School Coordinator

Alistair Pugh – Co-Chair of the College of Teachers

Sarah Parkes – parent representative of the PTA re-establishment working group.

The above key speakers will briefly introduce the offices they hold and explain the relationship between their office and the new PTA.  If you have specific topics you’d like PTA to look at, please come along and talk about them with those present or write them down the PTA Ideas Book, which will be open near the sign-in sheet.

This will be an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) during which we hope to elect Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and nominate up to six additional members of the incoming PTA.

If you’d like more information about these roles, please email PTA@edinburghsteinerschool.org.uk

Parents and teachers interested in supporting PTA on an ad hoc basis, are encouraged to leave your name and contact details in the PTA Ideas Book. It is envisioned the PTA will form individual working groups for specific issues which will need short-term, project-based support.

Three examples of PTA topics are:

Exams and how the School can facilitate Advanced Higher and Highers
Waldorf method to Avoid Bullying and Enable Early Prevention/Resolution
Mental Health and School Support

Please bring your curiosity, ideas and a plate of finger food (optional) to share!
