Classical Pianist Valentina Lisitsa Plays for Pupils

We were delighted to welcome American-Ukrainian concert pianist Valentina Lisitsa to Edinburgh Steiner School this afternoon. Valentina, who played with the Russian State Philharmonic Orchestra at the Usher Hall last night, played three pieces for us. The first was Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata. She explained to the pupils, Classes 2-12, the real challenges the musician faced as he discovered he was losing his hearing, but finally his determination to carry on.

The short concert was then followed by a masterclass with three pupils from Classes 7, 11 and 12.
