Class 8 will perform their pedagogical play on the School stage next Friday afternoon to Classes 6 upwards. An evening performance is open to all.

From recording live music as the soundtrack, to designing the set, posters and costumes, to backstage lighting and sound, final rehearsals are underway for Friday’s Romeo & Juliet. Class 8 warmly invite you to their abridged version of Romeo & Juliet on Friday, 28th February, at 6pm in the School Hall.

A Medley of Shakespeare (2024)

Class 8 chose Romeo and Juliet to be their play following their successful dalience with Shakespeare’s work last year. They have really taken ownership, pulling together everything they’ve learnt about drama over the last eight years. They’ve designed and built the scenery and props. They created the costumes with great attention to the themes and symbolism of the play. The lighting and sound have been engineered by two pupils. After choosing the songs, a group recorded all of the music from instruments to vocals with Ms Garrison.”

Different designs for the Romeo & Juliet poster adorn campus walls and windows, with the Class choosing to go with the lead image above by Anoushka as their main one.

“As Class Teacher I have been keeping it on track and helping to facilitate the reality of their imaginings,” says Karen Ford, who has journeyed with the class cohort sicne Class 1.
“Romeo and Juliet will not only put them in good stead for there future English exams, thanks to collaboration with Mrs McDonald-Russell, but be a fantastic showcase of the skills they have learnt in many subjects throughout the years.”
Class 8 parents will be selling choc-ices at the start of the show for £1 each towards costumes and the Class 8 Foreign Exchange to Germany – cash only. (There are currently no plans for an interval). There will also be a hat at the door for donations.
