Children’s Day Celebrated In Kindergarten

The focus of the Waldorf education between the ages of 3.5 – 6 years old is on play and activity embedded in the cycle of seasons and festivals. On Friday, the children celebrated “Children’s Day” as marked in Asia.

The four Kindergarten groups joined together on Friday to have a group picnic at snack time and decorate the garden with Koinobori (carp-steamer kites).

The carp was chosen as the symbol of Children’s Day because the Japanese and Chinese consider it the most spirited fish, full of energy and courage to fight its way up rapidly flowing streams.

The kindergarteners wore an item of clothing from their heritage or nationality as a way to celebrate who each child is.

The festival was wrapped with a Japanese story.
