Shepherds’ Play

Wed December 18, 2024
2pm and in the evening (~8pm)

The Shepherds’ Play, full of humour, is performed to the whole school community. It follows the three shepherds in their search for baby Jesus.

Over the past few months co-directors of the musical, James Cumming and Eilidh Smith, have been working on a documentary for Beauty and the Beast, incorporating filming and interviewing by pupils conducted as part of their Film & Drama extra-curricular club.

The cast and creatives share their thoughts on the process of putting together the first large-scale production in the School since Oliver, six years ago. Enjoy!

"“Am I not the first? I thought so to be. But Huckle and Muckle before me I see.”

This year, there will be a whole school and evening performance on Wednesday 18th December. The evening performance will dovetail the Paradise Play at 7pm.

Pupils of the school will gather in the school hall to watch an afternoon performance. The cast will then give a second showing in the evening for parents, carers and the wider community. Children of all ages are welcome. (Please be aware the Paradise Play is suitable for children aged 8+).

The performers are drawn from staff, and there is much secrecy around the casting, which is not revealed until the day; offered as a gift to the pupils of the School from their teachers.
