Duties will include:
Adhering to the Policies & Procedures of the Edinburgh Steiner School and compliance with the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act, GIRFEC, Health and Safety legislation and upholding the standards set by the Care Commission and Edinburgh City Council. Ensuring confidentiality is maintained in the kindergarten.
Working as part of a team; occasional cover for absent staff;
The care and supervision of the children with regard to their physical, emotional and spiritual needs;
working with the kindergarten teacher(s) on planning and preparation of activities and festivals, five mornings per week from 8.30am-1.45pm, plus a flexible 1 hour 40 minutes for meetings.
Offering all children equal opportunities with regard to their religious persuasion, racial origins, gender, disabilities, cultural or linguistic background;
Positive management of children's behaviour; providing a good example of behaviour and language for children to imitate;
Preparation, care, cleanliness and maintenance of the indoor and outdoor space;
Keeping accident, incident and risk assessment records;
Attendance at staff meetings when appropriate;
Participating in regular parents' evenings, publicity, festivals and open days, CPD, regional conferences and in service days where appropriate;
Undertaking any other duties and responsibilities as may be reasonably expected of a kindergarten assistant.

Afternoon Care Leader

Duties will include:

Working as part of a team and attending meetings as appropriate.
The care and supervision of the children with regard to their physical and emotional needs.
Devising, implementing and maintaining a smooth and consistent rhythm for the children throughout the afternoon session.
Escorting children from classrooms within school to the designated afternoon care room.
Supervising lunch and clearing up duties.
Leading indoor and outdoor activities.
Providing snack and ordering food supplies.
Liaising with parents at collection time, and being aware of the afternoon care mobile during afternoon care hours.
Preparation and cleaning of the room.
Positive management of children's behaviour; providing a good example of behaviour and language.
Keeping clear records of attendance; maintaining the accidents and incidents book.
Providing first aid care as appropriate.
Creating bills four times annually for each child.
Locking up and key holding.
Edinburgh Steiner School seeks an enthusiastic, energetic and positive individual to lead its afternoon care group for children aged six to twelve. An interest in and an understanding of Steiner Waldorf Education and its ethos is vital. Hours of employment: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons from 1.00pm until 5.30pm, Thursday 3.15pm until 5.30pm, term time only. Rate: £11.02 per hour. Start date: end of August 2017.
